Mr. Beckman brings 8+ years of experience delivering a wide range of transportation infrastructure work and complex heavy civil projects. He specializes in connecting constructability and execution planning with schedule, cost, and contract requirements to identify risks early, support change orders, and resolve construction disputes.
Mr. Beckman has supported infrastructure programs totaling more than $5B in constructed value, providing construction consulting services from preconstruction estimating and bid strategy through field execution and final acceptance. His work includes engineering change management, specialty structure installation support, subcontractor and supplier coordination, procurement planning, and development of work plans, sequencing, and acceptance packages.
He has managed public agencies, municipal owners, and major contractors on high-visibility projects with tight schedule, budget, and regulatory constraints, addressing constructability conflicts, schedule compression, quality disputes, and cost overrun mitigation. Experienced in managing diverse project scopes including pressurized waterline relocations, civil roadway electrical tie-ins, heavy civil excavations, and structural steel and concrete erection. He has also operated in active litigation environments and federally funded programs requiring disciplined contract administration and defensible documentation.
Mr. Beckman's approach integrates field-based constructability review with cost-loaded scheduling in Primavera P6, work breakdown structure (WBS) cost analysis, and contractual expertise to identify execution risks early and deliver practical, field-executable solutions. He has directly managed more than 30,000 labor hours with zero recordable injuries, reflecting a consistent focus on safety, quality, and operational discipline.
Before joining Exponent, Mr. Beckman served in operational engineering and field leadership roles with large heavy civil construction companies, Kiewit Corporation and Shimmick Corporation. He managed safety, cost, and schedule on high-profile projects including state-of-the-art sports venues, landmark bridge suicide deterrent systems, marine demolition, elevated light rail systems, signature bridge erection, and large-scale land development. He earned his Master of Science in Engineering in Construction Engineering and Management and his Master of Science in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, both from the University of Michigan, and his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
